Students
This is a temporary area for students.
Student Lunches
Sunday lunches are provided for students regularly. These are great times of fellowship, themed discussions around biblical topics or contemporary issues (e.g. approaches to evangelism, money, studying), and to enjoy some good food in good company!
This enables you to get to know others at Myton Church and to find out more about the student ministry here.
The next student lunches for 2009/10 will be: 6 Dec. After Christmas: 17 Jan, 7 Feb, 7 March, 2 May and 6 June. We would love to get to know you. See you there!
Student Transport
Living in Leamington
The church is within walking distance for students living in Leamington Spa. A number of students make the walk each Sunday; for more info
Living on or near Warwick University campus
Our minibus collects students from the bus shelters opposite the Arts Centre at 10am each Sunday morning, commencing on 4October. From 11 October onwards there will also be several cars to accommodate the number of students. It returns after the morning service each week or also after the Student Lunch when there is one.
Living in Coventry
We currently pick up at the main Hearsall Common bus-stop in Earlsdon at 9.45am each Sunday morning during term. We provide transport back to campus after the morning service as students can get normal bus services back to Earlsdon at this time. Look for a car with the Myton Church logo.
Any transport questions? .
Adopt-a-Student Scheme
Enjoy a home away from home!
The Adopt-a-Student scheme has been running for many years. Students can be linked up with a specific family or individual in the church, in the hope that they can get to know them better over the year.
This is a great way to integrate into the church family at Myton as you have the opportunity to get to know non-students.
Prayer
Bringing each other before God
Prayer is a great way of expressing our love for each other and our world, reminding us we are reliant on God. We regularly pray as a church for the life and witness of students and support CU’s and CCF in this way.
We also encourage students in the church to be praying for others in the church. If you are already in the church and would like to receive prayer requests please contact us.
Students are also very welcome to share prayer requests with the rest of the church by .
Serving in Myton Church
Opportunities to serve
In the Bible we are all encouraged to serve, we generally do this by supporting CU and CCF make the most of the unique opportunity they have.
We appreciate some of you choose not to serve in the CU, or those that do, feel they have time, energy and desire to serve the wider church family.
There are a wide range of opportunities for committed students to serve in the church: children’s work, music, tea/coffee and welcoming.
Student service be a huge blessing to the wider church as well as strengthening their faith and gifting.
Pastoral Support
Supporting students through specific situations
Being a student provides many challenges in your Christian faith.
Groups in CU and CCF can be of huge benefit to students by considering and working through common challenges these but we are well aware of greater experience and perspective than exists within the church.
Therefore wherever possible, Myton Church seeks to support students in responding to specific challenges they are facing. The adopt-a-student scheme, student lunches and our work supporting CU / CCF leaders helps hugely in this; however, we do offer more individual one-to-one support in specific cases.
For more information, whatever the situation, please contact us - .
Supporting CU and CCF
Sending students out to the opportunities on campus
Students have a unique opportunity to share the gospel on campus, far more than local churches can.
Warwick University Christian Union and the Chinese Christian Fellowship seek to make the most of these unique opportunities whilst being led by students, offering great chances for Christian students to serve and grow in faith. It is great to have students serving in the church but we also want students to feel released to serve CU/CCF.
We want to be a church where students feel at home (adopt-a-student), strengthened (student lunches) and then supported as they serve God and his church on campus. We support local CU and CCF groups in prayer, finance, providing occasional speakers when asked, and through offering particular support to the leaders of these groups who attend the church (pastoral support).
