Statement of Practice / Values

God’s Word is the chief means of creating and developing all spiritual life. He has spoken, and our first responsibility is to listen to him, and respond in worship and service.

We believe in the priesthood of all believers. Part of growth towards maturity is learning to use the spiritual gifts and talents God has given us for the benefit of others. Every Christian has at least one spiritual gift.

Unbelievers matter to God. It is our belief that the local church, equipped with the gospel and empowered by the Holy Spirit, is God’s strategy for the salvation of lost men and women. Jesus Christ came to seek and to save those who are lost, and we are to demonstrate the same loving values we see embodied in him.

Pastoral care is the shared responsibility of everybody who belongs to the church. We support and care for one another by friendship, prayer, encouragement and practical help.

Every relationship in every part of life should express the loving character of Christ. If behaviour arises which threatens the unity and testimony of the church, it will be challenged.

The whole world needs to hear the gospel. Myton Church is committed to supporting the mission of Christ locally, nationally and internationally in any possible way.

The church is independent, and self-governing, under the Lordship of Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and free from control by any ecclesiastical or political authority.

Heaven is our final true home. This world is passing away and will one day cease to exist.
