Introducing God
Many things that happen in this world are confusing and beg the question “Is there a God?” Although often lampooned by the media as “Ned Flanders” or the “Vicar of Dibley” types, Christians do claim to have coherent answers to life’s big questions. So what do they really believe? ‘Introducing God’ is a new course designed to explain the Christian world view, and how it stacks up.
The format is very relaxed and ‘non preachy’ and is done in a friendly, non-threatening environment where each person is taken seriously, allowed to express their point of view and ask questions. It starts each week with a meal and then a short talk on DVD. This presentation is the only formal input so there is plenty of time to discuss the topic in small groups over coffee or tea. Other matters can be raised provided everyone respects the views of others and gives space for each person to express themselves - even if they don’t want to say anything!
Understanding the Christian world view takes time because it is not simplistic; the programme runs for eight weeks and towards the end also has an ‘away day’ on a Saturday. You will receive a handbook that covers the material and allows you to check out what is said.
You may think we are presumptuous to say that we are Introducing God but we are confident that you will have a better understanding of the Christian faith and the claims of Jesus as a result.
